Opened in December, the Tipsy Trout features a menu that feels foreign at first in New England’s only landlocked state, especially since trout is mostly absent from the menu. The best dining experiences in Stowe are brand new and housed inside the Lodge at Spruce Peak. The Trapp Family Lodge is also a wonderful option, especially since it had its own bier hall. End a ski day with Topnotch spa visit, or a drink at the Roost, or soak in Topnotch’s outdoor hot tub and gaze up at the mountain slopes in the near distance. If you’d prefer to stay closer to the drinks and dining in town, book a room at the Topnotch Resort. With two-, three-, and four-bedroom living spaces, the rooms are rustically elegant, the floor-to ceiling windows provide incredible views of the mountain, and the lounges feature quiet common spaces and library nooks for those that want to work remotely from the mountains. In the penthouse suites, the property amplifies its game. Besides being the only slope-side property and offering most of the best dining and drinks experiences-allowing guests to avoid driving on what are often snowy and icy roadways-the rooms are comfortable and gorgeous, and guests can enjoy capacious common areas with well-managed fireplaces. It’s a luxury destination and appropriately nicknamed the “Ski Capital of the East.”Īfter a day of skiing and feasting, the Lodge at Spruce Peak is the top offering in town for luxury accommodations. But to combine the best of snow and hops and winter delights, head to Stowe, the name of the town and ski resort tucked beneath Mount Mansfield. Vermont’s ski slopes run neatly through the middle of the state, from its border with Canada almost to its southern boundary.
